All India Mango Exhibition is organized every year in Krishnagiri by District
Administration. ICAR-KVK, Krishnagiri participates regularly in the exhibition to disseminate
latest agriculture technology. 30th All India Mango Exhibition started from 13th September 2024 at
Govt. Arts College, Krishnagiri. Aim to Mango Exhibition to promote and educate farmers to best
practices in Mango Cultivation techniques and Showcase the different mango varieties and their
unique qualities.
Mango Exhibition inaugurated by Hon'ble Minister for Food and Civil & District
Collector, Krishnagiri. In KVK stall Technological Information displayed like Millets production
techniques, Natural Farming Cultivation techniques, Mango Fruit Fly Management, Micro Nutrient
management in Mango, Fodder production techniques, Nutrient management in Dairy cows, Value addition
in millets. Millet value added products and Native seeds for sales to farmers.
KVK staff explained to the Minister about KVK activities and products available.
Under the scheme of Agricultural Skill Council of India (ASCI),
training for Organic Cultivator (Small Unit) was planned to be conducted from
10-Jun-24 to 11-Jul-24. Its inaugural function was held at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra,
Krishnagiri on 10-Jun-24.
Dr. T. Sundarraj, Senior Scientist and Head presided over the inaugural function
and said that due to indiscriminate use fertilizers and pesticides by the farmers the environment
is affected. He instructed the farmers to know more about the organic agricultural techniques.
Dr.V.Balasubramanian, Deputy Director of Agriculture, Farmers Training Centre (FTC) Krishnagiri,
while inaugurating the training, spoke clearly about the techniques of soil conservation through
organic farming and the uses of pest repellents and panchakavya.
The Subject Matter Specialist Mr. K. Gunasekar (Soil Science), highlighted the
importance and objectives of Organic Cultivation Techniques. Mr. S. Senthil Kumar SMS
(Agricultural Extension) and Mr. S. Udhayan, SMS (Agronomy) participated in this inauguration
programme 25 farmers from Parur and Palayur villages, Krishnagiri are attending the training.
ICAR - Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Krishnagiri organized and conducted
Soil Health Campaign on 28-May-24 at Parur village of Krishnagiri block,
Krishnagiri under Extension activities. During this programme the importance
of soil testing and soil health were explained to the participant group of
farmers.
The farmers were instructed to collect the soil sample in their
fields after the harvest of crop and before sowing of the next crop to know
about the existing soil fertility status. The farmers were advised to apply
fertilizers according to the soil test recommendation to minimize the economic
loss besides to protect the soil environment. The soil sampling method was also
demonstrated in the programme.
The International Women Day was celebrated on March 8th, 2024 at KVK Campus,
Krishnagiri on the theme “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress”.
The day marked an important event for Women SHG and Entrepreneur to empower them and
recognize their women achievements in the field of Micro Enterprises & Entrepreneurship
Development.
Dr. T. Sundarraj, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Krishnagiri welcomed the gathering
and inaugurated the programme, interacted with the Farm Women SHG. Women Entrepreneur on Women
Drudgery reducing tools in Agriculture, Farm Mechanization for improved harvesting and Economical
efficiency by using the technologies for Women Empowerment.
Mrs. S. Poomathi, SMS (Home Science) disseminated on Millet Nutrition and its inclusion
for the Nutritional Disorders and Value-added Products in Millets for enterprise development.
It was celebrated in a grand manner with great momentum and two women entrepreneurs were
honoured for the successful entrepreneurship activity and excellence in vermicomposting enterprise
and value addition in Millet Products.
Department of Agriculture, Krishnagiri and ICAR - Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Krishnagiri
jointly conducted 6 days (19.02.2024 to 24.02.2024) Organic Farming training programme to Organic
growers under Skill Training on Rural Youth - SAMETI and MANAGE at ICAR-KVK, Krishnagiri.
The Joint Director of Agriculture, Krishnagiri inaugurated the Organic Farming Training Programme
on 19.02.2024 and explained the importance and need of Organic Farming Training to farmers.
The Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Krishnagiri given special address on role of KVK in Organic
Farming by providing technical guidance to organic farmer.
During the training period from 19.02.2024 to 24.02.2024,
farmers were trained in the following topics on Soil Wealth Management,
use of bio fertilizer in Organic Farming, Panchakavya preparation & Application -
Practical, Pest management in Organic farming, Different types of mulches & their
use in organic farming, Use of Bio control agents in the field, Application
method and demonstration and Organic farming - Method of certification by KVK
Scientist.
Final day (24.02.2024) on Organic farming training, trainees given their feedback on the training programme
and Organic farming booklet and Certificate to distributed the trainees by Join Director
of Agriculture, Krishnagiri and Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Krishnagiri.
Twenty Eight farmers were benefitted in the training programme.
The 44th Coconut Development Board Foundation Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm
at ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Krishnagiri. Collaborating with the Coconut Development Board,
the event encompassed a significant program—a “District Level Workshop on Scientific Coconut
Cultivation Technologies”. This insightful workshop saw the active participation of 100 farmers
and District Government Officials. Distinguished guests, including Mr. E. Aravazhi, Director of
the Coconut Development Board, Regional Office, Chennai and other esteemed dignitaries such as
Dr. S. Sri Vidhya, Associate Professor (Horticulture)
and Mr. K. Saravanan, Assistant Director of Horticulture, graced the occasion.
The event commenced with the registration of farmers, and Mr. Gunasekar,
SMS (Soil Science), extended a warm welcome to all attendees following the rendition of the
'Tamil Thai Vaazhthu' song. Dr. T. Sundarraj, Senior Scientist and Head, ICAR-KVK, Krishnagiri,
delivered the inaugural address, emphasizing the significance of the Coconut Development Board
Foundation Day. He further enlightened the audience with a special lecture on
'Scientific Coconut Cultivation Technologies.
Mr. E. Aravazhi expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all the farmers and Government
Officials for joining in the celebration of the 44th Coconut Foundation Day. He christened the
coconut tree as 'Karpaga Virutchagam,' underscoring its role as a tree that bestows benefits and
assistance to all individuals through every part of its existence. His detailed discourse covered
topics such as coconut varieties, planting methods, ideal planting times, spacing and initial steps
for maintaining young plants. He shed light on CDB schemes, showcasing the transformative impact on
farmers' lives through technical knowledge import and initiatives like Friends of Coconut Tree (FoCT).
Also, he enlightening attendees on value-added coconut products,
preparation methods and effective marketing techniques.
Dr. S. Sri Vidhya, delivered a technical talk on 'Coconut Cultivation Techniques through
Organic Method,' highlighting the importance of organic practices in coconut cultivation.
The workshop also featured valuable sessions by experts, including Mr. Gunasekar on Integrated
Nutrient Management, Importance of Micro Nutrient and water management and
Mr. T.I. Ramesh Babu on Identification and control measure of Pest and Disease in coconut.
The farmers' experience-sharing session added a personal touch to the event,
with testimonials from successful individuals like Mr. Rajendran and Mr. Ramasamy, a FoCT Master Trainer.
The latter shared his
inspiring journey from trainee to entrepreneur, generating applause from the audience.
The workshop concluded with Mrs. S. Poomathi, SMS (Home Science) explanation about the
facilities available in KVK, about hands on training on coconut value addition. Mr. K. Gunasekar
expressed gratitude to everyone, and more than 150 farmers left with valuable insights, CDB schemes
folders and Coconut Cultivation Technique pamphlets. The event concluded on a high note with the National
Anthem. It was a resounding success,
fostering knowledge sharing and collaboration in the field of coconut cultivation.
ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Krishnagiri organized and conducted Kisan Mela at
Guttur Village of Bargur Block, Krishnagiri District on 02-Nov-23. Mr. V. Krishnan,
Joint Director of Agriculture, Krishnagiri presided over the program and distributed
fodder sorghum CO 31 and Hedge Lucerne seeds to 100 selected farmers. He emphasized to
use the inputs to increase the productivity in livestock and also explained the importance
of Soil Testing and Soil Health Management.
Dr. T. Sundarraj, Senior Scientist and Head,
ICAR-KVK, Krishnagiri, briefed the farmers about the mandate activities of the KVK and given
technical talk on Wildboar Management Techniques. Dr. T. Tamilselvan, Professor of Agronomy,
RRS Paiyur TNAU delivered guest lecture on Integrated Crop Management in Samai Cultivation.
Mrs. M. Sivashankari, Assistant Director of Agriculture, Bargur Block of Krishnagiri District
created awareness on KCC, PM Kisan, Uzhavan app and Government schemes.
Subject Matter Specialists
of KVK given technical talk on Fodder Production Techniques, Integrated Nutrient Management in
Agricultural Crops and Integrated Farming System. During this programme Exhibition was arranged for
farmers and displayed Micro nutrients, Bio fertilizers and Fodder seeds. During this programme 138
farmers from Guttur village and students of Karunya Agricultural University, Coimbatore were
participated.
ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Krishnagiri organized and conducted Farmers Scientist Interaction and Inputs Distribution programme under DAPSC at Bannihalli Village of Kaveripattinam Block,
Krishnagiri District on 13-Oct-23. The Director of Extension Education, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University,
Dr.P.P.Murugan presided over the program and provided the selected farmers with coconut tree climbing
equipment, horsegram seeds, mango micronutrient mixture and ProBeads-EC microbial health promoters for
domestic chickens and said that they should use the inputs in a proper manner to increase their livelihood
and to approach the KVK for the technical doubts of the farmers emphasized.

KVK. Also, a Farmer Scientist Interaction programme was conducted with involving the technical experts,
Programme Assistants from KVK, TNAU staff and the Farmers. The problems faced by the farmers about soil
resource management, organic farming, pulses cultivation technologies, use of farm machinery and poultry
farming management were discussed.
Dr.K.Vennila, Program Coordinator, ICAR-KVK, Dharmapuri and
Mr. Ramasamy, Assistant Agriculture Officer of Kaveripattinam Block, Krishnagiri and the students
of Karunya Agricultural University, Coimbatore participated and 50 farmers from Bannihalli village
participated in this programme.
ICAR-KVK, Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu of ICAR-ATARI, Zone X, Hyderabad
organized a Millet Recipe Contest at Anchetty Village, Thally Block of Krishnagiri
District. The programme was conducted to celebrate the International Year of Millet 2023
and create awareness about the health benefits of millets in shaping our millets
in lifestyle area expansion for increased production and productivity.
In the programme, a total of 80 contestants from five villages around
Anchetty of Thally Block participated and displayed their millet based food products
for the contest. The contestants displayed various innovative recipes like ragi burfis,
halwas, laddu, ragi pooris, mixed millets rotis etc., The winners were selected by the
team of experts with prescribed guidelines.
The programme was presided over by Dr. Ranjay Kumar Singh, Assistant Director
General (Agrl. Extn.) ICAR, New Delhi. In his chief guest address to conserve the
different land races of millets to facilitate more researches in future. Also he motivated to
prepare millet products in combination with herbals and medicinal plants which can open
new opportunities for the young and budding entrepreneurs.
Dr. Shaik N. Meera, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Zone X, Hyderabad in his presidential address,
he emphasized about the marketing of millets and millet products
through digital media platform is having a good scope for more profitability.
Dr. P. P. Murugan, DEE, TNAU in his special address advised to cultivate the latest
high yielding millet varieties released by
Millet Research Station of TNAU at Athiandal for higher productivity.
Dr. Kathirvel Govindasamy, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Zone VI Guwahati stated that millets
may be preferred in rainfed conditions to consume the water.
Dr. Krishnan, JDA, Krishnagiri stated that State Agriculture department support
the cultivation of millets through subsidy schemes.
Mrs. R. Jayanthi, The Project Officer, Integrated Child Development Scheme, Krishnagiri,
Dr. Ranjith, Medical Officer, Anchetty have also participated in the programme and gave a talk on
importance of millets and their role in healthy diets.

by Mrs. S. Poomati, SMS (Home Science) of KVK Krishnagiri.
